In an article published in The Ledger, The Lunz Group will be working alongside Straughn Trout Architects and The Central Florida Development Council to conduct a study focused on fostering technology-oriented growth and development around Florida Polytechnic University and Suntrax. The study will cover coordinated efforts to foster development, balance expectations and outline plans in an effort to develop the concept of the Central Florida Innovation District.
According to Sean Malott, President of the CFDC, “The goal behind the innovation district is really to develop a new community that welcomes a knowledge economy, fosters an ecosystem of renovation and values in proximity, connectivity, collaboration.”
In the memorandum issued by CFDC, it is the intent that the two cities (Lakeland and Auburndale) and Polk County will coordinate to identify various aspects of the district including transition areas, sub-districts, green-ways, gateways, and set precedents for zoning, land use and development.
